I quit my job, started a blog and decided to move to the UK

Hello World! It’s Sim here. How’s your 2019 been so far? It’s crazy that we’re almost in August. Before you know it we’ll be in 2020. With time flying by so fast I’m in a bit of a reflective mood so here are the major milestones I’ve had this year:

Which brings us to today, the day my very first blog post goes out into the world. If you’ve come this far in the article, I feel like I should at least introduce myself properly before I launch into what lead me to create this World and what you can expect to experience here if you wish to stay…

I’m a quirky 26-year old who currently lives in sunny South Africa and works as a digital marketing freelancer.

Girl with dog saying hello

I’ve been doing digital marketing for over 5 years now. I really enjoy the profession as you’re always working in a fun and creative environment that’s always evolving. My love for digital marketing is also one of the reasons I want to move to the UK. The UK is one of the biggest hubs for my industry, specifically London. When you work in the mecca of your industry you are more likely to become an expert in your field and that’s definitely on the career goal list for me.

Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as just wanting to move to the UK. There have been a few hurdles that we’ve had to overcome but we recently received very good news and will be making the big move within the next few months.  And with “we” I mean my amazing husband, Warrick and I. After being together for over 2 years, we tied the knot earlier this year at a special venue that’s also a craft brewery and distillery with the name of Black Horse Estate.

Now, a few months on we are yet again adding a new chapter to our lives together – embarking on our journey to move to the UK and explore the rest of the world. Our move is one of the reasons I’ve decided to start this blog. So for anyone else out there, planning to move to another country and looking for some tips, make sure you check into Sim’s World because I’ll keep you updated on the process and what I’ve learned along the way.

Apart from some travelling tips, I also want this World to be a creative outlet and place of inspiration. I actually have quite a few ways I like to express creativity. I love playing around with style and beauty and I’m not shy to add my own quirky touch if I feel like it. I’ll be sharing some of my favourite trends and looks, however, full disclaimer, I’m not in any way a fashion or makeup expert. I’m just a girly-girl that has fun playing dress-up. So if that’s something you like to do as well with a glass of wine or your favourite cocktail in hand, welcome to Sim’s World! I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun!

Another creative passion of mine is music. Singing and dancing have been a part of my life since I was a little girl dreaming of becoming a popstar. Sim Sings is the grown-up version of that little girl and she might make an appearance every now and again when I’m reviewing some new music, trying out a cover for a song or maybe testing out an original. For a sneak-peek of what I’ve worked on before, check out our wedding song which Warrick and I made together here.

And there you have it, Sim’s World in a nutshell. Life, travel, music and beauty. A rainbow of content. With a shot of tequila gold at the end (hint for what you can expect from my next post that will be out soon).
